About us
Established in 1938 and affiliated to Essex Bowling Association and Bowls England We currently have over 90 members and offer opportunities for all level of bowlers either competitively or just casual rollups. We are a successful club having won the Essex County Shield 2023 and various other competitions both Men and Ladies In addition to summer bowls which runs from April to September we have an active winter program of short mat bowls, games afternoons, quiz nights and cards, together with themed party nights. Overall, we are friendly fun crowd who welcomes new members.

Whether you’re looking for a match or club nights. We have both ladies and gents changing rooms and both have toilets, also on good days we can set up a BBQ in our outside lounge area . The club has a walkway ramp for people with walking difficulties.

The last Bastion of British Amateur Sport, I have always played and enjoyed competitive sport, it’s a great social leveller, and I have particularly enjoyed playing bowls for over 20 years. My father, who was also a keen and well known bowler, once said to me “No one remembers how you win, but everyone remembers how you lose”……..It took me some time to realise how right he was ! You see, playing bowls should be much more than just winning or losing but simply enjoying the experience of playing the game and all it has to offer.
